The UL listing confirms SplashBotix’s revolutionary diverter valve is safe for use in swimming pools, spas and interactive fountains.
AUSTIN, Texas. – SplashBotix, a leading supplier of aquatic controls and submersible mechatronics to the show fountain, aquatic play and themed entertainment industries, today announced that its SplashValve, the fountain industry’s first diverter valve flow control device, has been UL listed for use with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spas, and interactive fountains.
The SplashValve replaces solenoid valves, water switches and distributed VFD pumps in show fountains and aquatic play features to enable fast-acting proportional nozzle-level flow control using the popular show programming language DMX. The SplashValve’s UL listing marks a major milestone for the novel flow control device, which requires only a pool-rated 12VAC or 24VDC power supply, and confirms the product’s safety for use in a broad variety of recreational aquatic environments and applications.

Unlike solenoid valves or water switches, the SplashValve does not stop the flow of water; it merely changes its direction. Controlled using the SplashValve, water may be diverted to the device’s effect port, bypass or to both ports simultaneously at varying proportions, allowing for a range of nozzle heights between full effect and full bypass.
Because the flow of water is continuous, SplashValves operating on a common manifold are each able to run unique effects without affecting the pressure within the manifold. This provides designers the freedom to use as many SplashValves on a common manifold as their supply pump can support, without having to incorporate pressure relief valves or other pressure management infrastructure. Using the SplashValve, designers can easily achieve fast-acting, highly articulate fountains and playscapes that are safe, reliable and less dependent on high voltage distributed effect pumps.
Municipal and regional requirements in the US often demand UL certification for electrical devices used in aquatic environments, particularly those installed among aquatic playscapes such as splashpads and interactive fountains. This UL listing, therefore, opens the door for the SplashValve to be used for a greater number of applications across the United States.
The SplashValve’s 3-meter homerun cabling option is officially UL listed, while the 3-meter multi-drop cabling option is in the process of certification. While each cabling option poses certain advantages for different applications, the 3-meter homerun cabling option is generally well-suited for most use cases and applications.
